Vaaleanpunaisia ruusuja - Pink roses

Tämä manikyyri on erittäin helppo tehdä, mutta näyttää silti kivalta.
Mustat tipit lakkasin teipin avulla, liimasin kynsitarrat päälle ja viimeistelin rajan nail art -lakalla. Kynsitarrat on ostettu Seppälästä.


This manicure is super simple to make, and it looks beautiful.
I used clear tape to help me paint the black tips. Then I attached the decals, and drew the glittery line with nail art polish. Voilà!

Käsinmaalattuja kukkia - Hand-painted flowers

Päätin kokeilla uusia nail art -lakkoja ja maalata jotain käsin. Pohjavärin päälle tein erillisellä siveltimellä ja tavallisella kynsilakalla ensin pinkit terälehdet, jotka rajasin mustalla nail art -lakalla. Pisteet tein dotting toolilla ja samalla lakalla kuin terälehdet. Kukan keskelle tein harmaan nail art -lakan kynäkärjellä pisteitä ja vetelin vielä glitteriä koristeeksi.

Mukava taas ottaa valokuvia, kun sen pystyy tekemään auringonvalossa! Niistä tulee paljon nätimpiä kuin loistevalossa. Joskus olis vielä haaveissa järkkäri, jolla saiskin sitten tosi hienoja kuvia. :) No joka tapauksessa, tykkäsin että ihan hienot kynnet tuli! Toivottavasti tekin tykkäätte.


I decided to try out my new nail art polishes and paint something by hand. First I painted the petals using regular nail polish and a separate brush. Then I drew the black outlines. The pink dots were made using a dotting tool and the same polish as in the petals, and finally I added some dots and glitter with silvery nail art polishes.

I'm so glad that the sun is finally shining again after the long (and bloody cold!) winter. The pictures turn out a lot prettier in sunlight than those taken in fluorescent light. Some day I'd like to have a proper camera to get even better shots... But anyway, I think this mani turned out very pretty and I hope you like it too!

Pettynyt eBayhin - Disappointed in eBay

Olen nähnyt muiden bloggaajien mahtavia ja älyttömän halpoja saaliita eBaysta, niin päätinpäs kokeilla itsekin. Rekisteröityminen eBayhin ja PayPaliin oli helppoa, ja sitten aloin vain tilailemaan. Tein aluksi kolme tilausta: nail art -lakkoja (24 kpl hintaan 11 euroa ja risat), nail art -siveltimiä (15 kpl alle kolmella eurolla) ja Konad-levyjen halpoja kopioita (6 kpl reilulla 7 eurolla). Täytyy sanoa, että nämä tuotteet oli aikamoinen pettymys, enkä taida enää tämän jälkeen yrittääkään tilata mitään.


Nail art -lakoista ainakin kahdeksan (siis kolmasosa) oli viallisia: pensseli oli ihan käyrä tai se oli pudonnut kokonaan lakkaan, eikä kynäkärjetkään toimineet kaikissa: lakkaa pursusi yli äyräiden. Ja vaikuttaa siltä, ettei pensselit pysy paikallaan kovin hyvin niissä lopuissakaan, jos ei ole varovainen. En kuitenkaan palauttanut lakkoja, sillä ajattelin, että voin käyttää niitä erillisillä siveltimillä, joita myös tilasin. Ne vaikuttivat itse asiassa ihan laadukkailta, ainakin näin ensi silmäyksellä.


No, ne leimauslaatat sitten. Niillä ei tehnyt yhtään mitään! Kaiverrukset eivät olleet tarpeeksi syviä, joten kun lastalla vetäisi ylimääräiset lakat pois niin koko kuva lähti siinä samalla. Nämä aion kyllä palauttaa. Taidan luottaa vain aitoon Konadiin tästä lähtien, näköjään halvalla ei saa hyvää!
Ärrin murrin.

EDIT. No nyt tuntuu olo suht tyhmältä. :D Kiitoksia kommentoijille, jotka kertoivat, että laattojen päällä on ohut muovikalvo, joka pitää ensin poistaa. Enhän minä ollut sitä huomannut, eikä tuotteen mukana tullut mitään ohjettakaan. Nyt ne toimii, mutta ei jälki ole siltikään ihan yhtä tarkkaa kuin Konadin levyissä. Niin, ja tietenkin ehdin jo myyjällekin lähettää vihaista postia... :) Mutta ehkä nuo pelkät nail art -lakat ansaitsee tämän tuohtumuksen, eli taidan jättää postauksen paikalleen...

EDIT 2. Okei, on nuo levyt ilman muovikelmuakin oikeasti huonoja. Kuvista tulee ihan suttuisia. Ongelma on ehkä päinvastainen kuin aluksi luulin: kaiverrukset on liian syviä, jolloin niihin jää liian paksu kerros lakkaa, ja sitten se leimattaessa suttaantuu. Pitäkää tunkkinne.


I've seen other bloggers order really cheap products from eBay, so I decided to give it a go myself. Registering in eBay and PayPal was easy, and all I had to do then was to start ordering. I started with three different products (all with Buy Now -option): 24 nail art polishes (about 11 euros), 15 nail art brushes (less than 3 euros), and 6 stamping plates (about 7 euros). The products were so disappointing that I think my eBay days are now over.

8 out of the 24 nail art polishes were faulty. The brushes were crooked or missing completely, or the pen tips didn't work: the polish kept gushing out. And it seems that the brushes are not that firmly attached in the remaining polishes, either. But I decided to keep these, since I thought I could use them with separate nail art brushes, which I also ordered. And they seemed to be quite ok, surprisingly.

The stamping plates, then. The engravings were way too shallow: when the excess polish was scraped off, so was the whole image. Completely useless! I'm definitely going to return these. I guess I'll only trust the authentic Konad from now on. Grrrr!

EDIT. Well, now I feel really stupid. :D Thanks for the people who commented and told me that there's a thin plastic film covering the plates.
I hadn't noticed them, and there were no instructions in the package either. And of course I already sent angry e-mail to the seller... :) Now the plates work, but the images are still not as sharp as with Konad. Anyway, I guess the nail art polishes alone deserve this indignation, so I'll leave this post in the blog. :)

EDIT2. After some testing, I realised that the plates really suck, even without the plastic films. The stamps become smudgy. The problem might be exactly the opposite than first thought: the engravings could be too deep, so the layer of polish remaining in them is too thick. That's why it smudges when stamped. I give up.

Tähtisumua - Nebula

Tjah, tällaista tällä kertaa. Pohjalla Evelinen Party Colours, sävy 403. Keskelle töpötin sienellä tummaa violettia ja sen päälle leimasin Konadilla tähtiä levystä m3. Viimeiseksi tökin sinne tänne vähän hopeaglitteriä nail art -lakalla. Mutta tänään en jaksa kirjotella enempää, kuvat puhukoon puolestaan.


Well, well. Seems like it's stars this time. The base colour is Eveline's Party Colours, shade 403. The dark purple in the middle is applied with a sponge and the stars are made with Konad, plate m3. I also applied some silver glitter here and there with a nail art pen. But I can't be bothered to write much today, a picture is worth a thousand words or something like that...

Kukkaista vesimarmorointia - Water marbling with flowers

Tästä tuli nyt kyllä yksi mun kaikkien aikojen suosikkimanikyyreistä! Tykkään ihan hirviästi! (Vaikka onkin nykyään aika lyhyet kynnet.)

Pohjaksi tein vesimarmoroinnin Mavalan lakoilla, kolmella eri sävyllä. Siihen sitten leimailin kukkia laatasta m60 ja heitin parit strassit päälle. Kuulostaa helpolta, mutta onhan tuo vesimarmorointi aika hidasta ja sotkuista. Jälki on kuitenkin sen arvoista!

This is now one of my all-time favourite manicures! I love the way it turned out! (Despite the shortish nails I have nowadays.)

First I made a water marbling on all nails (using Mavala's nail polishes in three different shades) and then stamped some flowers on top from plate m60. Finally I attached some rhinestones in the middle of the flowers. Sounds easy enough, but water marbling is quite slow and messy. But the result is definitely worth the hassle!
